Trion is in the filter business. They are not in the sheet metal business. Why then, is Trion selling a superior quality sheet metal cabinet at a discount price?
I think that the answer is that Trion wants it to be easy for you to replace the filters, so that you buy more filters. So this cabinet may well be a loss leader for Trion / Air Bear.
These are precision boxes. The doors fit. The seals to the filter are air tight. The latch works. And the part number of the filter that you need is written right on the front door of the unit.

This is not a steel cabinet in which to keep your spare Trion filters. This steel cabinet media air cleaner is the actual air cleaner to be installed by your HVAC professional. Air flows through the replaceable high MERV# filter to clean particles out of the air in your home or office. I love my Trion Airbear. Filters from Trion & other retailers are available from Amazon in MERV8 through MERV13. The higher the MERV# the smaller the particle size removed from the air

More about MERV, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. MERV numbers range from 1 (large particles removed, smaller particles get through) to 16 (even the tiniest particle gets removed from the air). The higher the MERV, the more efficient or complete the air filter is at removing particles. An old style fiberglass panel filter may have a MERV of 4 or 5. Whereas, a MERV 14 filter is typically the filter of choice for critical areas of a hospital (to prevent transfer of bacteria and infectious diseases). Higher MERV filters are also capable of removing higher quantities of extremely small contaminant (particles as small as 1/300 the diameter of a human hair). A higher MERV creates more resistance to airflow because the filter media becomes denser as efficiency increases. For the cleanest air, you should select the highest MERV filter your HVAC air-handler is capable of forcing air through based on the limit of the unit's fan power.
